Supporting honour victims needn’t cost you a penny.
Don’t get us wrong – we’d love you to donate.
But we’re also realists and we know that your pay packet - if you’re lucky enough to have one in these rainy, recession-streaked days - is a finite resource.
Our budget as a charity has not escaped the impact of funding squeezes.
As much as we’d like to pay an army of fighters and radicals to man our help lines, run our new campaigns and lobby the Government, sadly we can’t always live up to the scale of our ambitions.
The KN team is always on the lookout for new volunteers to assist us in getting the message out there.
And the message is this: HONOUR-BASED VIOLENCE IS NOT CULTURE: IT’S ABUSE.
And this: We need to save the NEXT GENERATION from the cycle of forced marriage and honour-based violence.
Think you have what it takes to support honour victims?
Want to boost your CV while helping people to rebuild their lives?
Become a KN help-line volunteer
Here’s what happens when you sign up:
Firstly, we will train you with four training sessions, over a span of 6 to 8 weeks.
You can expect role plays, team exercises, lessons and talks from our team of KN experts.
By the end of the four weeks, you will be able to identify the key indications of honour-based violence and will be trained in how to respond to real-life cases.
To cap it all off, we will give you a two day induction session where you will test what you have learnt in a supervised environment.
And after that, you’ll be a fully trained, and super-confident KN help-line advisor.
The benefits of volunteering are truly life-affirming. We aim to equip our volunteers with the power of insight, education and specialist knowledge of honour-based abuse which they can take forward into their personal and professional lives.
Our training sessions will be especially useful to people who are already working in - or thinking of entering - careers in psychotherapy, psychology, health, social work, legal or teaching. But we welcome anyone and everyone – students, professionals, people currently out of work, senior citizens. If you’re 18 and willing, climb a-board.
Fill out our volunteer form and a member of the KN team will be in touch shortly.
