This Training will:
Basic Awareness

(3 hours)

 

Teacher (Education), Police Officer, Social Worker, IDVA/ISVA, Housing Officer, GP, Midwife, Health Visitor, Health professional, Probation Officer, Citizens Advice Bureau, Victim Support, Drug/alcohol support worker. This training will enable professionals understand the background of honour based abuse in addition to its prevalence in the UK. It will ensure professionals are aware of the key definitions in this field including the differentiation between an arranged and forced marriage. This training covers best practice guidance to handling a case of honour based abuse, including the dos and don’ts and the potential triggers for a forced marriage. This training enables professionals to understand forced marriage and honour based abuse within a child protection framework. This training reduces the risk of professional practice and procedure falling short of required statutory obligations.
Intermediate

(1 day)

 

In addition to the above, the intermediate training will:

  • Provide an in-depth understanding of how honour based systems operate within families & communities, including its background and history;
  • Enable professionals to identify risk through the use a multi-agency risk assessment tool (future courses);
  • Provide a detailed understanding of the multiple perpetrators and where they come from;
  • Explore safety planning strategies for safeguarding;
  • Ensure professional understand & can apply the legal remedies to address a case of FM &/or HBA;
  • Ensure professional understand the process to repatriate a victim of forced marriage taken overseas;
  • Work on real life case scenarios to identify & manage safeguarding concerns;
  • Provide an overview of the legislative framework in the in incidents of Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage.
  • Highlight the importance of the one chance rule.
