The concept of our roadshows is simple. They are aimed at raising awareness of Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriages amongst the front line professionals who will experience dealing with these issues, such as Police and teachers. Along with a survivor, professionals are able to appreciate the reality of these issues.
We would theme each roadshow campaign like we have done in the past. Our initial campaign focused on forced marriages affecting children and young people. Then in 2011, our theme was focused around on the Forced Marriage Protection Orders and victim empowerment.
We have always felt that by increasing reporting, you will reduce isolation, resulting with saving lives. The Roadshows are free and only half day, providing professional’s a necessary reason to attend. Providing basic knowledge and the dos and don’ts surrounding these issues, it will instil confidence within the professional on how they can approach each case.
Working with our local partners across the UK, KN is able to get the roadshows across to most support services. We are ever so thankful for all the support we have been given throughout both campaigns of 2010 & 2011.
If you wish to become one of our partners and would like to host KN in your town, then please contact our helpline for further assistance.
Our past campaigns have ran just before the summer break, as we have found calls increasing to the helpline around this period. Over the last two campaigns we have been to over 30 different towns/cities across the UK.
For 2012, KN is still in negotiating plans nonetheless we will update our website once we have confirmed.
