Karma Nirvana has trained 5 police officers from Surrey police to deliver a specialist training programme to response officers across the Surrey policing area. This training enables all front line officers to identify honour based abuse and forced marriage. This training is critical to providing the right response at the earliest opportunity. Tragic cases such as that of Banaz Mahmod highlight the importance of the “one chance rule” and how important it is to get it right at the first point in which a victim makes contact. Surrey Police started rolling out the programme in February 2015.
