Here’s three ways you can make a difference, right now.
1. SPREAD THE WORD
Don’t worry, this needn’t mean taking to the street. We just want you to make it your personal pledge for the day to tell at least one person about Karma Nirvana and the work we do for victims of forced marriage and honour-based violence.
Educate the people in your life about what’s going on in our country.
And don’t hold back – tell them about the violence, the beatings, the kidnappings, the rapes. They need to know.
Give them our web address and tell them to read our survivors’ stories.
Tell your children, your colleagues, your neighbours, your teachers, your friends, your partner. If you could tell your MP, that would be brilliant.
And speaking of your MP…
2. WRITE TO YOUR MP
We know you’re busy people, so we’re not asking you to sit down with a piece of paper and a pen.
We’ve drafted this letter for you to send to your Member of Parliament, asking them to support our NEXT GENERATION schools campaign to save the next generation from the cycle of honour-based abuse.
All you have to do is fill in the name of your MP at the top, sign your name and address at the bottom – and send it off.
We want this letter sent out to parliamentarians en masse, so that they know we will no longer tolerate the abuse of children and young people in the name of ‘honour’.
Use the principle described in step one, and ask one other person to send this letter off to their MP, and ask them to ask another, and so on and so on.
And finally…
3. SIGN OUR NEXT GENERATION E-PETITION. We need as many signatures as we can get. Clicking here will take you to the right place.
